~New Jersey: Day 3~

NEW.YORK.CITY. Ah...I actually love this place! Many people don't enjoy the big city life, but I actually love it. Walking the busy streets. Looking up at the massively tall sky scrapers. Grabbing a bite to eat on the go. Staying out of the path of crazy taxi drivers. Seriously, I love it. With that being said, I wouldn't want to live there. Once upon a time, not so long ago, though, that is what I wanted. Now, I just stick to visiting the place for a day or two every now and then.

Dustin, Jim, Peg, and I spent the entire day - no joke...the entire day - in "The City." We took the bus into the Port Authority and made our way from there. We walked miles and miles and miles, visiting lots of different places in Manhattan. In fact, even Jim (who grew up just 30 minutes outside the city) had never been to places like Chinatown! It was a fun adventure though. We saw Times Square, Macy's, Ground Zero, SoHo, Chinatown, Greenwich Village (which had a delicious bakery!), Central Park, and the theatre district. That is just naming a few. We ended the night at a Broadway Theatre watching the Tony Award winning show, Memphis. Seriously....one of the best shows ever! The actors were stunning. The songs were amazing. The dancing was outstanding. Everything about it was so worth the money we spent on our tickets, which not to mention - we bought the "cheap seats" but ended up getting some great ones due to some empty seats a few rows ahead of us. Let the walking begin.... The big city busyness with lights, advertisements, and stuff galore. The old architecture here is absolutely amazing. Jim and Peg in Times Square. We were on the "big screen" in the middle of Times Square....one of the many technology things they have there for tourists like us. Ground Zero. It looks much different than it did when I was first there in 2004. They are starting to rebuild the tower. Some of the remnents from the fallen towers. This cross beam is actually how it was found. The Lord will restore this place. The horse-drawn carriages are all over Central Park. One of the gorgeous views from Central Park. It is so crazy that this beautiful (and large!) park is smack dab in the middle of one of the craziest cities around. Another odd thing - 6 full-size fields in the middle of this city! Catching a ride on the subway, giving our poor feet a rest, while we head back uptown to catch the show. Extra fabulous show. Highly recommend seeing it if you have the chance. This is the street where so much happens!
