And not only do we play as a family, but we like to match in the family, too. It must be a sister thing.
As the day gets later, the waves tend to get bigger. The morning is when we usually took the kayak out, so we could enjoy the riding…or crash into the waves. But for the most part, it was calmer earlier in the day. For once on this vacation, I found myself in the photos rather than behind the camera. I wish I would have snapped more series of Josh and Kari on the kayak, but I didn't.

This is why I love my family. They are FAB.U.LOUS. End of story.
Since the afternoons were typically rougher water, they were usually filled with boogie boarding and body surfing. I did manage to get quite a few fun shots of the boys "playing" in the water.

A view down the beach, from our house, about 1.1 miles north to the pier.
Walks on the beach are a must when you're vacationing at a beach like this. It doesn't matter if you take them first thing in the morning, mid-afternoon, or last thing before you hit the sack at night. Just make sure you take them.

And it wouldn’t be a complete day on the beach for my mom if she didn’t read her book. Thankfully, we had a little shade from the {wonderfully!} hot sun this year under the umbrellas. I followed in her footsteps this year and finished 3 books while at the beach. Sun, sand, and a good book. A fabulous combination for a fantastic vacation.
And one more of Avery (and great-grandma Ledebuhr) because I couldn't pass it up. It's not too often these generations get to snuggle with each other.
