~Myrtle Beach: Day 2~

Today was all things blue. Blue skies. Blue ocean. Blue swimsuits. Blue shirts. And of course, blue flags…as in red, white, and blue to celebrate the 4th of July. It’s only happened once or twice in all of the years we’ve done these trips that we are actually able to celebrate our nation’s independence at this wonderful beach.

So, let the celebrating begin. We are not only celebrating the 4th, but also the fact that we are vacationing together, as a family, at this beautiful beach, staying in a wonderful home, and enjoying each other’s company. So although this was our second day in South Carolina, it was really our first day on the beach. And that, my friends, is a reason to celebrate.

The Keithleys are certainly the water-loving, sun-soaking, salt-dripping beach bums of the Ledebuhr crew. We take it all in – morning, noon, and night. The new members of the family fit right in. Dustin and Avery, alike, loved this beach and everything about it.

One thing for certain that always happens on this trip is eating good food. This year was even more fun because we all contributed to what was on the menu. Each night, a different family was responsible for cooking. Uncle Jeff (and the Fisher family) made us a delicious meal of chicken, squash, zucchini, and salad on Sunday night. Yummy yummy in our tummies.

I can’t get enough of our precious little neice, Avery. She does so much more each time we see her and it’s so fun to “watch” her grow up, even if it’s from far away. I just want to smooch all over here every minute…can’t wait to do the same for Little Mr. Aiden Thomas (due December 2010).

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to appreciate the goofy-ness of my family. In fact, I would like to think I’m a leading contributor to some of the silly things we’ve been known to do, one of which is silly photos. We have such a fun time together – all of us – and I just love making these kinds of memories with family. It’s times like these that I wish we lived closer to everyone so we could do these sorts of things more often.

No, we are not a family of pyros, but we love a good firework show! Not only did Josh and Alex put on a little one for us, but up and down the beach we could see shower after shower of bright colors and loud noises. I don't think there is any better place to watch a firework show than on the beach...front row seat in the sand.
