I felt special as Ashley asked me if I wanted to be in the room during her delivery with the other women – both moms and the sisters (minus Rustin’s sister, Lindsay, who lives in Dubai), as well as Rustin. So amazing! I was able to snap lots of photos, but still get to watch the birth. What a special moment! Ashley did a fabulous job. Congratulations Ashley and Rustin…and welcome to the family, Reid!

~Welcome to the world, Reid!~
After nearly 26 long hours at the hospital, Mr. Reid Cameron James Royer made his debut to the world and became the newest member of the family.
We got the call from Ashley on Monday afternoon that she was going in at 7 PM to be induced. She had seen her doctor earlier that day, and because of high blood pressure, they wanted to get her in. So we both hurried to try and finish things up at work since we were going to be taking Tuesday off. We arrived at 10 pm…and nothing had happened still. I should have known better; we obviously didn’t need to rush. They had already hooked her up to pitocin and that is when the waiting began. So we all just hung out in the room for a few hours – the rooms at this hospital were nice and big so we didn’t have to hang out in the waiting area/lobby too much.
Just before midnight, Dustin and I left so we could get a little bit of sleep in a real bed…we pretty much woke up every hour still to check our phones and see if anything had happened. At about 8 AM, we found out they were going to break her water and then get her on the epidural at 10 AM…so we headed back to the hospital, hoping it would only be a few more hours. It was 12 more…. But we found ways to entertain ourselves (and catch up on needed sleep) in the meantime.
