"Day After" Wedding Photos

As most of you know, it rained and poured on our wedding day! We were able to get some good shots, but not all of the fun ones that our photographer had hoped for. So, we were able to go out this past weekend and take some "day after" shots with her at a fun place in Southeast Portland. Thankfully, we were able to finish up the shoot just as the rain drops started falling. Something about us and wedding just attracts the rain.

This is just one of the shots that she took and one of our new favorites....Check out Randi's post for a few more from that day! I am hoping to get all of our wedding photos in the coming weeks and will try to post some of our favorite on the blog.

We must be the good luck charm!

We got to go to Game 5 of the Playoffs last night! Thank you to a very generous person, Dustin was given some AWESOME seats for this game. We are usually way up in the rafters, but for this game, we sat in section 111, row M! We played a fantastic 1st quarter and a decent 2nd... the 3rd was a whole other story! I thought we were done for....even part way into the 4th quarter we weren't looking so hot. BUT THEN....Brandon Roy took charge, like the 2-Time All-Star that he is, and we won the game! They head back to Houston for Game 6 tomorrow night. It's a MUST-WIN for Portland, so we can come back to RIP CITY on Saturday night for Game 7.

GO BLAZERS!!!!

Yao - sorry, your sweet talking the refs doesn't quite work up here in Portland!

4/23/2009 - It's been TEN years!

Although this post is a few days overdue, I want to recognize, CELEBRATE with, and honor my amazing husband, Dustin James! Last Thursday, April 23, 2009, was his 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of being free of cancer. But more importantly, we want to rejoice with our Great God, who is the one who held his hand, cared and comforted for, and provided wisdom to Dustin and his family when they went through this life-changing experience. Although I was not an official part of your life during that time, Dustin, I know that God was already working in your life to prepare you to be in and lead mine. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for carrying my husband through this time in his life so that he could be here with me to go through mine.

I love you Dustin James!

Blazers Win - Blazers Win!!!!

We were lucky enough to go to the Blazer’s playoff game last night – Game 2 against the Houston Rockets! We were actually supposed to be at Game 1, but it was Saturday, which was also Heidi’s wedding. Dustin was able to find someone willing to trade tickets for Tuesday’s game, which he could not attend….we definitely got the better game. Game 1 was ugly….so we NEEDED this win! Now we’re going to try to get tickets to Game 5, back in Portland next Tuesday!

GO BLAZERS….RIP CITY BABY!

Maui - Day 8 (last day)

The time has come to say goodbye to Maui! We made one last trip to the coffee shop and farmer’s market, where we got fresh banana nut/chocolate chip bread and some pineapple!!! We walked down to the beach for a nice relaxing morning. Dustin was able to do a little bit more snorkeling right off the shore and saw some great things. You’ll notice the orange buoys in the water in some of these pictures – they actually mark the “rip tide” channel where the water is forcefully being carried back out to sea. You kind of need to stay away from these. Dustin noticed he was getting pulled out at one point and tried to swim back, but thankfully had read the signs and knew what to do. Well, not everyone else did….we watched 6 or 7 people, including 4 or 5 kids, get pulled way out to sea and have to get rescued and brought back into shore. It was pretty scary, and at one point, I wasn’t sure they were going to make it! What we thought was going to be a peaceful morning didn’t quite turn out that way. Then we got cleaned up and headed back out to the airport….and our trip was over! It was a FANTASTIC honeymoon and we highly recommend visiting here if you have not already been….or returning if you have!

This is what they do to start and finish lots of traditional events in Hawaii....so Dustin found the conck shell and is blowing the horn! =)
On our porch - can't beat this view!
Our coffee shop for the week!
Waiting in line at the Farmer's market.
....see the orange buoys....

Maui - Day 7

This is our last FULL day on Maui, so we wanted to relax and thoroughly enjoy the vacation. We slept in, read, and then headed to the coffee shop to grab some more yummy coffee. Dustin had been wanting to rent a boogie board all week, too, so we grabbed one before jumping in the car and heading out to our favorite beach one last time – Big Beach. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating with us and it was cloudy and rainy most of the day. Although, it was a blessing in disguise because of Dustin’s itchy sun rash. On the drive over, we stopped at Hilo Hattie’s (a souvenir store) with plans to just run in and go to the bathroom. Well, we started watching someone crack open an oyster and buy a pearl so we decided to pay the $15 and do the same. Well, the oyster Dustin’s chose (you have no clue what’s going to be in it) had twin black pearls in it. They are so pretty. So we got them set as stud earrings and I love them! We jumped back in the car and drove a little past the beach and through La Perouse Bay, which is the last place where lava exploded on the island. It was everywhere! Then over to the beach, where we sat through a 45 minute rain shower…literally, I had my towel over me and covering me from the cold and rain. Dustin was able to boogie board a little and then we called it a day. That evening, we went for a walk on the beach and watched an amazingly gorgeous sunset!

La Perouse Bay

Boogie boarding....even though the waves weren't that great today!

He got a busted lip when the board bounced off the wave and smacked him in the face - OUCH!
Despite the fact that this looks like an 8 year old girl, it's me!
These black clouds were over us almost all afternoon....and you can see that I wasn't that happy about it!

These are our footsteps for our walk on the beach at sunset....and these are the pictures of the gorgeous sunset!
