~God wants our heart~

Right now in my bible, I am reading through the book of Hosea. It’s one of the minor prophets and doesn’t get too much attention. But, I am finding this is an amazing book, which tells of the love that our Lord has for us, no matter how many times we fail Him. The Israelites broke their covenant to Him so many times, yet He has never turned His back on His people. They gave their lives over to other gods, idols, and to the enemy, yet the Lord never forsook them. When I came across this verse, it just hit me square in the eyes….God doesn’t want our religiosity or in-genuine acts of righteousness; He doesn’t want our apologies just because “we should be sorry” only to go on living in our sin.

No, our God wants our heart to be in line with His good and perfect will. He wants all of us, regardless of the fact that we are flawed and imperfect. He knows that because He knows us; He created us. This verse is an excellent reminder to be sincere and true in all that I do, especially since I choose to live my life for the Lord!

“For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgement of God rather than burnt offerings.” ~Hosea 6:6~
