New to this blog'ing thing

This is my first shot at this whole blog'ing thing, but I wanted to give it a try. It seems like this is the "more adult" way of keeping folks updated who I don't see on a regular basis, plus it doesn't require that you have your own login name like other sites such as MySpace and Facebook. So, this is my first shot at the blog.

As most of you know, Dustin and I got engaged on my birthday and are excited about getting married and starting our lives together. So, as of this first post, I am not an official member of the DeGroot Duo, but it's close enough, right?!?! We are still working on the biggest detail of all (the date!), and will let you know when we know more. We are considering either Fall 2008 or Summer 2009, but want to make sure we're doing it right - keeping our focus on the relationship and not the wedding event itself. Two things we do know for sure: the wedding will be in Portland and we want to enjoy the planning process, whether its 4 months or 14 months! =)

This summer will be crazy busy with planning our own wedding, along with attending about 5 or 6 other weddings, some in state but others out of state. I look forward to seeing old friends and introducing Dustin to friends and family who have not yet had the opportunity to meet him. We have a number of other things we'll be doing to keep us busy as well.
